The GRR Wildlife Safe Standard

Six promises. No poison.

We will never use poison. Not in your attic, not by your fence, not on any job. Here are the six promises behind that, and how to hold us to them.

Why we wear the owl

The pledge

Green Rodent Restoration will never use poison. Not in your attic, not in a bait box by your fence, not on any job we do. We get rodents out and keep them out by sealing every way in, letting the ones inside walk out through a one way door that locks behind them, and lining their runways with Detour, a chili pepper gel they will not cross. Nothing is killed in your walls. Your kids, your pets, and the owls and hawks outside your window are all protected by the same work.

Our logo is an owl because the owl is nature's own poison free rodent control. A single barn owl family can take a thousand rodents in one nesting season and more than three thousand in a year (Humboldt State barn owl research). A poisoned rat kills that owl: in a California wildlife hospital study, four out of five raptors tested carried rodenticide (WildCare, via Sierra Club). We will not be the company that breaks that chain.

This is the standard every person who wears the owl on their shirt works by, in every GRR market: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Chino Hills, Orange County, Chicago and Orlando. Below are the six promises behind it, what we never use, and how to hold us to every word.

The GRR Way

Our six promises to you

These are the six values every GRR teammate is hired, trained and reviewed on. Here they are as promises to the people we work for.

  1. 1. No poison. No exceptions.

We will never use, sell or quietly recommend rodenticide of any kind, even when a customer asks for it because it is cheaper. We solve the problem the way nature does: seal the way in, show the ones inside the way out, clean up what they left behind, and keep watch. If anyone from GRR ever offers you poison, we will make it right and the CEO wants to hear about it.

  2. 2. We tell you the truth at your kitchen table.

You will see what we found, with photos, before we recommend anything. We recommend what your home actually needs, not the biggest job we can sell. We state our warranty exactly as written, and we will never promise “permanent,” “lifetime” or “100% safe,” because no honest company can.

  3. 3. Every call is a home.

When you call, a real person answers or calls you back fast, because we know something is in your walls and you are not sleeping. We offer every caller a free poison free home inspection and we follow up on every open estimate until you have an answer.

  4. 4. We finish the job.

The job is done when the home is sealed, clean and you have proof. We seal every entry point we found, leave the work area cleaner than we found it, take before and after photos, and walk you through what we did before we leave.

  5. 5. Wildlife is part of the family we protect.

The owls, hawks, bobcats and neighborhood pets outside your home hunt the same rodents we evict, and they die from what other companies put in bait boxes. Nothing we use harms an animal that touches it or eats it, including the rodent. Where a humane option exists, we use it. We back barn owls and the people who protect them, and we will keep adding wildlife partners in every market we serve.

  6. 6. We are a good neighbor.

We grow because neighborhoods recommend us, not because we push. We respect your home, your family, your pets and your privacy. We show up in full uniform, in a clean marked van, on time or with a call ahead, at the price we quoted. We earn reviews honestly and we never pay for them.

On every GRR truck

What we never use, and what we use instead

Poison free is not a slogan. It is a short list of things that never go on a GRR truck, and the four things that do: sealing, one way doors, Detour gel and cleanup.

What Green Rodent Restoration never uses, why, and what GRR does instead
We never use Why What GRR does instead
Anticoagulant rodenticides (first and second generation) A poisoned rodent stays alive for days and gets eaten by owls, hawks, bobcats, dogs and cats. The poison moves up the food chain. Exclusion. We find every entry point, from a gap under a garage door to a roofline vent, and seal it with steel mesh and sealant that rodents cannot chew through. This is the fix that lasts and the one our warranty stands on.
Cholecalciferol and bromethalin baits (the “non anticoagulant” poisons) Sold as the safer poison, still lethal to pets and wildlife, and with no antidote for many animals. One way doors. Over the active entry point we mount a steel mesh door that swings out and locks behind. The rodents inside leave on their own to feed and cannot get back in. When activity stops, the door comes off and the opening is sealed for good. Nothing is caught and nothing dies in your walls.
Poison bait stations around the property The black boxes by the fence are poison dispensers. They kill far beyond the rodents they are placed for. Detour gel. A clear, food grade gel made with organic capsaicin, the heat in hot sauce. Applied along runways, pipes and openings, it irritates a rodent’s feet and whiskers so it leaves the area and will not cross the line again. It does not harm the rodent, a pet or a wild animal that touches or eats it, it is NSF certified for use in kitchens and food facilities, and it keeps working for months.
Any product we would not want near our own kids and pets If we would not put it in our own garage, it does not go in yours. Cleanup and prevention. Attic and crawlspace cleanout, droppings removal, sanitizing, deodorizing and new insulation where needed, then organic repellent spraying around the property in every branch.

What keeps them out after we leave is the DART prevention plan: scheduled checks of every seal, gel and repellent reapplied, and the exclusion warranty extended as long as the plan is active and in good standing.

How to hold us to it

A pledge only counts if you can check it. Here is how.

  1. Ask any GRR technician what is on the truck. The answer is the same in every market: steel mesh, one way doors, Detour gel, cleaning supplies. No poison, ever. If you ever get a different answer, that technician is not following the GRR Way and we want to know.

  2. Ask for the photos. Every job includes before and after photos of the entry points we sealed and the areas we cleaned. If you did not get them, call the office and they will be sent.

  3. Check our certifications. GRR is certified by the National Wildlife Control Operators Association (nwcoa.com) and is an L.A. Green Business certified company. California work is done under pest control license PR 8479.
